Karen has been a practitioner of yoga and meditation since the 1980’s, beginning with a life-changing journey to northern India and Nepal in 1987. The path of yoga has guided life through many personal stages, including marriage, motherhood, professional careers, personal growth and teaching.
Karen has studied yoga asana with many profound teachers in the Iyengar and Anusara methods, both locally and across the US; and brings a love of alignment, philosophy, creativity and transformation to all of her teaching. In 2009, she began a highly potent path of study with renowned scholar and meditation teacher, Paul Muller-Ortega, and is now in training to teach the magnificent practice of Neelakantha Meditation. This experience has affirmed for Karen that yoga is a life-long path, and offers something to every sincere practitioner, regardless of age, fitness, nationality, or belief system—and can bring healing, wholeness and growth to any person’s life. When she is not teaching, Karen serves as the Program and Events Coordinator for Blue Throat Yoga. She also spends a great deal of her time with her husband Ken, and her grown children who have all supported her on the yoga path, and occasionally jump in to join her! She also loves her pets, her dear circle of friends, writing, travel, study and the outdoors. |
